TCi raises more than £10k for local charity

Staff at TCi have been celebrating a record-breaking year of fundraising

Following an exceptional effort over the past 12 months, the Barnstaple-based business has collected an impressive £10,142.10 for Care for Kids North Devon. Participation in events throughout the year saw employees take part in the charity’s annual 10k run, a marathon coastal path challenge and the popular Christmas raffle.

A range of other initiatives all contributed to the final sum, which was celebrated with a ‘big cheque’ presentation at TCi’s headquarters in Roundswell.

Lead administrator, Megan Barnes was responsible for coordinating participation and explained; “Throughout the year, we developed a variety of ways to fundraise which also created a lot of fun. There was a ‘guess the baby photo’ competition, World Cup sweepstake and even an office ‘Tuck Shop’ with profits collected towards our total.”

She added; “we really didn’t know what we might be able to achieve. Everyone recognised the amazing help that Care for Kids North Devon provides to a wide community and got stuck in, whether they are based locally or at our sites across the UK. This goes to show that if you get behind something as a company, you can make a real difference to small, local charities that need our support. I’d encourage any business to do the same because the benefits are real and the feel-good factor amongst staff is brilliant!”

A Marathon Challenge along the South West Coast Path raised more than £6000!

Care for Kids North Devon provides financial support to North Devon families who have a child diagnosed with a life threatening illness or condition. The money TCi has raised will be enough to support ten local families who are in desperate need. The charity also carries out enhancements at the children’s ward at North Devon District Hospital.

Jacky Massos, Charity Manager and Trustee, said: “The team at TCi has absolutely blown us away with their fundraising efforts. When they chose us as charity of the year we had no idea they would raise over £10,000! Not only have they helped us financially, their efforts have really shone a spotlight on us as a small charity. Hopefully their efforts will be noticed by other local businesses, who in turn will consider taking on some fundraising challenges of their own for us, or one of the many other small charities doing valuable work in our community.”

Each year, employees are asked to nominate charities which are then put to a vote to decide the annual “chosen charity” as a focus for company-wide fundraising activities.

Previous ‘chosen charities’ at TCi have included North Devon Hospice and British Heart Foundation

Managing Director, Alex Perkis said; “I’m really proud of everyone for getting involved. I would especially like to thank our supply-chain and clients who have generously contributed towards this momentous figure and helped us to provide genuine benefit to a very worthy cause.”
