Double award at graduation ceremony for Rhiannon

Project Surveyor, Rhiannon Stone was honoured as “Best Overall Student” in the celebrations.

Having completed her HNC in Construction and the Built Environment earlier in the year, Rhiannon attended the 2023 Petroc College graduation ceremony at Barnstaple Guildhall and the Queens Theatre. She had already been awarded some of the highest ever marks and several distinctions across coursework modules, but further recognition came in the form of two awards on the day.

Rhiannon was announced as ‘The Most Outstanding Student in the Department’ and then presented with the University of Plymouth ‘Best Overall Student’ award in a presentation overseen by College Principal and CEO, Dr Sean Mackney, Director of Higher Education, Dr Caroline Chipperfield, and author, poet, playwright, librettist and philanthropist, Sir Michael Morpurgo OBE.

Project Director, Callum Bowden attended the ceremony and congratulated Rhiannon, saying;

What Rhiannon has achieved here is something to be hugely proud of. What’s more, this is reflected in her attitude and commitment to everything she does at TCi, making her a great ambassador for the company and inspiration to the team. Training and apprenticeships are an essential part of TCi’s continued success and provide vital opportunities for career development. Thanks to Petroc, we have much-needed local access to further and higher education for our employees.

Rhiannon has since started a degree in Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management at University of the West of England (UWE) in Bristol

TCi continues to embrace training and apprenticeships as routes for career development, with more than 20% of employees consistently in long-term training roles. This September saw the enrolment of 5 new apprentices, as well as several new trainees and university starters.
