In partnership with Train4All and The Amber Foundation, TCi has been delighted to be able to host a candidate on a trial basis, providing vital work experience in his chosen industry.
Following an introduction from Train4All and assessment of requirements, Hayden was invited to start with a 4 week trial at one of TCi’s largest operational sites – a 29 unit industrial estate new-build development in Roundswell, Barnstaple. Preparation included CSCS training to achieve a valid labourer card, mandatory for working on TCi sites.
The working arrangement enabled him to attend on Tuesdays and Thursdays as a general labourer to assist sub-contractors on site. His involvement in various tasks quickly grew to provide experience of steel fixing, scaffolding, ground works, glazing, cladding and roofing.
Operations Manager, Callum Bowden said:
“The site was busy on all fronts and was in need of a carpenter to produce plywood pattresses within the units. Hayden swiftly volunteered that this was within his capabilities and subsequently exceeded all expectations.”

Currently 3 weeks into the 4 week trial, a further 4 weeks has been lined up at another TCi site to provide experience working in a highly regulated, clean room environment, the likes of which form a large part of TCi’s specialist work.
On successfully proving his application, motivation and ability, the aim is to be able to offer the Hayden an apprenticeship with TCi.
