Throughout 2024, TCi supported British veteran and para-athlete Jon White as an official, corporate sponsor of his competition season.
As well as being a top-level athlete representing Great Britain, Jon is a patron of The Royal Marines Charity, which gave TCi employees an additional focus for fundraising throughout the year.
What did they do?
They raised a total of £1,437.74 for the charity during 2024 through efforts such as:
- Dress down Fridays – staff paid every Friday to wear their own clothes to the office
- An office tuck shop – staff were able to buy snacks and sweets in the office, and all profits went to the charity
- Equipment sales – Staff were able to buy used computers and equipment at a good price and all profits went to the charity
- Christmas jumper day – Staff paid to wear their Christmas jumpers in December
- Sweepstakes – TCi ran a sweepstake for the UEFA EURO 2024, each participant paid to enter and was randomly allocated one of the 24 countries
- Fantasy football leagues – Staff paid to enter and the person with the highest-scoring team throughout the season wins
- Christmas Raffle – Staff paid to enter a raffle of various prizes at the end of the year
The Royal Marines Charity’s mission is to provide support, advice and lifelong camaraderie for serving and retired Marines and their families.
At the cheque presentation. staff expressed their gratitude to Jon for sharing his inspirational journey over the past year, which included his qualification attempt for the Paris 2024 Paralympics, participation in the Kayaking World Championships and a world tour. One particular highlight was the extremely challenging ‘Mox, Dragon Run’ where Jon faced 8ft waves. Here’s a video featuring some of the race:
Jon delivers “Commando Mindset” training to senior leaders in the business community, and was welcomed to Sizewell C on behalf of TCi in January to address staff on site. The talks he delivered received enthusiastic feedback.
