Commemorating the biggest project milestone to date, known as “Jalon Zero” or “J0”, key contributors have been presented with a framed print, depicting the stages that have been completed as part of the journey.
From the onsite TCi team, Operations Manager Callum Bowden and Operations Support, Kevin Hussain were selected to each receive copy from Facilities Service Manager, Dave Barrett.
The initiative is part of a Hinkley Point C campaign called #builtbyus and highlights the inclusivity and collaboration between teams and sites working towards common goals within the programme at Europe’s largest construction site.

J0 represents the point at which the final concrete of the common raft – the reactor’s main foundations – were poured.
Around 4000 people* are now working on site, half of them from the local area and over 400 of them apprentices*.
5.6 million m3 of rock* has been excavated and nearly 19,000m3 of concrete* has been laid in the first phase, with the world’s biggest crane now operating on the site**.
TCi is proud to have been heavily involved in two of the key stages depicted on the print, as a tier 1 contractor supplying office and welfare furniture to the East Office Annexe and for the fit out and furnishing of the central amenities for the two accommodation campuses.
